A proponent of painting's inherent aesthetic
luxury of slow and quiet contemplation, Todd works mostly in oils and watercolours, creating allusive pictures of everyday scenes, objects,
common myths and
allegorical monuments.
His work has been described as
"extremely subtle",
"thoughtfully obsessive",
"invoking the grandeur of the
everyday", and possessing a
"coarse luminosity".
Born and raised in Vancouver
B.C., Canada, Todd studied painting and
lithography at the Emily Carr
Institute of Art and Design, as well as studying film, sculpture and
philosophy.
